A unique combination of influence, talent and available technology will provide a launch platform for he introduction and utilization of inexpensive UAV platforms for commercial and governmental uses both domestic as well as internationally.
DRI’s present sphere of influence, collective associated capabilities and logistical planning will ensure ardware delivery, software development, engineering, and manufacturing disciplines providing solid opportunities for UAV integrated product development.
Current world events plus the maturity of the technology required to successfully build UAV systems meeting mission requirements have made the UAV a sought after piece of military/civilian hardware.
During the course of the UAV Specification Development Program (SDP), some system and technology needs were identified. The systems include:
- A UAV capable of flying from <1,000 up to 60,000 ft.
- Long endurance (at least 12 hours) and adequate payload capacity (100’s of pounds)
- Lower cost of UAV operations
- More commercial UAV vendor options
- Improved reliability of UAV’s for high altitude, long endurance
- Thorough documentation of aircraft systems for safety
- Easier access to the National Air Space
- More training for Operators/Pilots
